Petite Women in Every Size Share Their Favorite Jeans
Finding petite jeans is hard. You’re short, life’s short, so we’ve made it easier!
American Eagle continues to be a great go to brand for fit challenges. They make a Short (27” inseam) and X-Short (25” inseam) lengths in almost all of their jeans. They also offer a curvy line and have a huge range of sizes making for an almost universally loved brand.
Universal Standard is a brand with an even bigger size range than American Eagle. They make jeans for women all the way up to size 40. They do offer petite lengths. They are a bit pricier but have an avid following.
Topshop’s petite section also came up as a great option for trendy jeans made for ladies under 5’4”, while many women reported being frustrated with Zara for not offering jeans to short women.
What should you do if you want to buy jeans that aren’t petite? You can do what Haley does and buy jeans with raw hems. This allows you to cut them to your favorite length. Alternatively, you can cuff your long jeans and pair them with a cute pair of boots or heels. There’s always tailoring, but it can be expensive and the results are always up to chance.

Zara | Topshop | And More!
Haley Estrada shares her favorite denim that she’s bought this year. She bought a pair of jeans with a raw hem so she could cut them down to the length she liked. She loves the Topshop Petite section because she can buy jeans and doesn’t have to hem them.
Haley’s Thoughts
“You should always be going for a high-waisted pair of denim because this is going to elongate your legs and create an illusion of height that you might not actually have.”
“Straight denim is really great for the petite figure because it allows you to wear a more comfy and baggier pair without looking too overwhelming on your figure. Obviously, a wide-leg jean is super comfortable however for our body type it can often make us look like we're kind of drowning in our denim rather than looking super stylish and trendy.”

Madewell Jeans
Pretty in Petite! shares her thoughts on Madewell. She found the petite length to generally work well. The flared jeans she tried on were a little long on her but she felt this was a good stylistic choice.
Gayfee’s Thoughts
11” High Rise Skinny Crop: “These jeans are great by the way. They fit so comfortably and are a really good pair of jeans.”
11” High Rise Flare Jeans: “These are petite size jeans but they still run a little long. I have to wear these wedges to make them not touch the ground.”

Hollister | Express | Everlane | Boohoo | American Eagle
Jessica Neistadt has made an excellent video detailing the differences she’s finding in major jean brands. She goes to American Eagle, Hollister, and Express to try on multiple jeans in store. She then tries on Boohoo and Everlane at home. We have only included her favorite picks below.
Jessica’s Thoughts
Curvy High-Waisted Jegging: “The length on these jeans was really good. They are a proper jean length so if you're not into the crop Jean look these jeans might be for you because these hit right at the base of your leg.”
Ultra High Rise Mom Jeans: “The fit on these was taught but not at all tight. They were very high-waisted. They had the perfect rise and I just really liked this pair. I really like the fit. The crop was definitely on the shorter size which was perfect for me.”
Jessica’s Stats
Height: 5’1”

Shalynn’s Thoughts
Vintage High Rise Skinny Jean: “I could suck in for dear life and these are not going to zip and button. So these are a no.”

Walmart Jeans: Time and Tru | No Boundaries
Ashley Sarvak went looking for jeans without a lot of distressing for the fall. She found the No Boundaries jeans to be a bit long, but the length on the Time and Tru Jeans worked well because they offer a petite length.
Ashley’s Thoughts
Time and Tru Jeans: “I would say size up. They have like no stretch to them hardly at all. They are 99% cotton and one percent spandex.”
No Boundaries Jeans: “They're a little bit long on me so I just roll them up when I have them on but I think they're really nice.”

American Eagle Jeans
ColourMeCamille shares her thoughts on American Eagle jeans. The Short Length was perfect for her 5’2” legs.
Camille’s Thoughts
High-Waisted Jegging Crop: “These are the crop and as I suspected they actually fit right down to my ankles so these are regular length on me.”
Curvy High-Waisted Jegging: “so the difference is that I'm noticing from the [High Waisted Jegging] is these seem to come up a little bit higher. I have about an inch of fabric above my belly button. And then with the highest rise jegging that I tried on you got probably another couple inches from here so this is kind of the happy medium between those.”

Ashley Lopez shares her favorite mom jeans that she recently purchased. She shares great information on sizing for both the waist and the length of the jeans.
Ashley’s Thoughts
“My next favorite pair of mom jeans are these Curvy Ultra High Rise Mom Jeans from Hollister. I'm wearing these in a size 15 regular. They do hit me at the ankle so I could do a short but I like the length. I'm surprised I didn't do a short but I like this like for me because i like to cuff them. They're really cute”
“I love how high-waisted [the Forever 21 Jeans] are. They are a little bit shorter, they're definitely an ankle pair but I like that they make the booty look good look.”

Old Navy
Darlene Texas has been an Old Navy fan for a number of years. She still has her old Rockstar jeans from years ago. Old Navy makes petite lengths in their jeans with a 28” inseam.
Darlene’s Thoughts
“I already love these you guys. These are the rockstar high rise super skinny. I did get these in a size 16. They fit so good. They are extremely high rise. They have that slimming effect. It really really sucks you in and makes the bottom look good.”
“I know that they're called boyfriend jeans because they're supposed to be baggy and shapeless. They are really comfortable denim. I feel like I could definitely wear these all day with no issue but I would look horrible.”

American Eagle
Melissa Rocha ended up buying American Eagle jeans in size 16 and 18 depending on the style. She isn’t a fan of super stretchy jeans, but does appreciate some stretch in her denim. Initially, Melissa sized up two sizes, but ended up not needing to.
Melissa’s Thoughts
“[the Dream Jean Curvy Jegging] if you don't like that type of feeling of at the end of the day your jeans are just like sagging I would not get these. I personally probably won't keep these because I just don't like how stretchy they are. I want to be kept in you know?”
“[In the Dream Jean High Waisted Jegging] my butt feels good, my body feels good. They're pretty high-waisted but not too uncomfortable. I really like these these.”
Melissa’s Stats
Height: 5’2”
